GNX Side Extension Module (GNX-SEM)

The GNX Side Extension Module adds a new level of realism to the passionate flight and space pilot.

While the GNX-SEM was designed with General Aviation pilots in mind, the module is highly configurable to suit any flight and space sim cockpit.

The SEM can be attached side-by-side to:

  • Gladiator NXT EVO Standard or Premium controller base (from either side)
  • SEM modules (max number of SEM modules in system – 4x)
  • THQ modules (max number of THQ modules in system – 4x)
  • Gladiator EVO Omni Throttle, but only on the opposite side of the throttle’s ‘elbow’. For example, a left-hand throttle only allows attachment on the right hand side. To overcome this limitation a USB Controller can be used which then allows the SEM to be connected to the PC and therefore placed independently of the controller

Up to 4 SEM modules can be accommodated in your cockpit.

Just awesome

Adding this to my gladiator joystick makes the flying experience so much more fun. I have also bought the THQ since this purchase. The GNX has proper well designed switches and buttons. Like all this VKB stuff it is all highly configurable and built to last. I also have the rudder pedals that I could not live without. The support is also amazing.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the 5 star rating and the positive review.
We also appreciate your nice comment about our customer support.

Instructions need updating

The VKB channel installation instruction video needs to be updated to include the Gladiator EVO. It includes a 3-4 pin cable and a 4-4 pin cable, but the video only mentions the 3-4 being plugged into the 3 pin socket port on the Gladiator. The EVO only has one 4 pin socket. Clarification needed. Will update review when its sorted & I get a chance to use it.

Almost Perfect

+ The general idea of attaching the various NXT bases to create one complete table-top panel with one USB connection is brilliant.
+ The device looks and feels great.
+ Ability to change the number of detents for the flaps / gear sliders, or turn them into axes is typically innovative of VKB.
+ Decent number of buttons and switches.
+ Superb price.

- I would prefer if some hats / 4-ways were included to control things like radar. Or even more switches instead of the buttons would have been preferable. I imagine it was a matter of keeping the price down. But honestly I would have happily paid a bit more for more hats and switches.
- Once the detents are removed from the flaps / gear sliders, they feel a bit flimsy.
- There does not seem to be a way to move some of the buttons to a different virtual device like you can do with the axes.

Thank you for the detailed review, Paul.

Quality product can't fault it. Does what it supposed to do.

As with the rest of the VKB kit, it's a quality product. Software is very solid, VKB official YouTube channel guides are top notch. You get what you pay for.

Just be mindful of compatibility with EVO Omni Throttle. It's NOT compatible with Left Hand Omni throttle when attached to the left side of it. The Omni throttle stick hits the Throttle stick on the SEM Module. It's not the technical connections or mounting (that's all fine) it's the two throttles physically colliding during movement of the Omni. It's not / wasn't well documented on their website. Images attached - there is no workaround, reconsider your setup - I went with purchasing USBC module for the SEM and have it sitting as a standalone unit.

(NOTE: I have provided this feedback to support and they may update their website site to make things more clear - this feedback is as at time of purchase March 2022)

Hi Anton,

Thank you very much for the great review.
We will follow your suggestion and amend the SEM's product description to alert customers of attaching the SEM to the left of a left-hand Omni Throttle.
This issue can be solved by connecting the SEM via USB Controller direct to the PC.

We are sure you will have many exciting adventures with your VKB products.
