VKB Gladiator NXT Evo Space Combat Edition

I don't normally post reviews of products, but after receiving my Gladiator (SCE) I really wanted to support VKB because I honestly love it. Ive had it for a few weeks now, and I upgraded from an old Logitech stick, and it's really brilliant. I use it mostly for DCS and generally fly the F16C Viper. While this isn't a copy of the F16 stick, the grip has a huge number of buttons and it's easy to map functions to them in a very similar fashion to the real aircraft. It came really well packaged, the YouTube videos for assembly and customisation were really easy to follow. Most of the stick is plastic, and I can understand why people might think that might impact the quality. It does not. It's really solid and it's not that cheap sort of plastic that going to break in 5 minutes... its quality. It comes with a metal base with anti-slip pads and its absolutely planted on my desk - it doesn't move even when I'm getting overzealous with the controls! Prior to purchasing I had never heard of the VKB brand but took a chance after viewing a lot of positive YouTube reviews and I've decided to follow up this purchase with a STECs throttle system. If you are looking for a new or to upgrade your stick... I really would recommend this. I think they have really got the price point spot on - its great value for the customer.

 

On another level!

So I’ve had VKB gear for a while now, over 4+ years. I have recently started playing a lot more DCS with a few friends and we have formed a Squadron online. One of them who shall remain nameless….. MARLO!!!, bought one of these and I tried it. I went straight back and ordered one. For here at work. I liked it so much, I bought one for home as well. lol. We call it an Arms Race. I’ve opened up 2 fronts so I win.
This Joystick is just on another level. My flying has improved so much with its precision. Buttons?!? You want buttons? Well take your pick. They are all here and the quality is insane. On top of that, you can swap buttons if you want. How insane is that! With the brake lever on the joystick you can apply just the right amount of pressure so you don’t nose over and bend your prop. So with my STECS, Gunfighter and Pedals all from VKB, I’ve got the matched set and I am over the moon. Thanks VKB for going the extra effort to produce such amazing hardware.

Holy Cow

I have been waiting to get a new throttle and wanted to wait for the STECS to see if it was any good. I’m so glad I did. This thing is so good it’s insane. Every button and switch is right where it needs to be. Smooth, programmable and adaptable to any aircraft you fly. I fly DCS and it’s so easy to set up for every aircraft I fly. So glad I waited.

Perfect calibration

Aside from the smoothness and genuine heavy duty feel of the Throttle, I am super impressed with the finely tuned calibration. it is possible to set both the RPM and Throttle Speed by 1 degree increments, which is really useful when flying multi engined bombers. Very happy and looking forward to matching it with the recently ordered WW11 Joystick.
